Ottawa became certified as a ‘bird friendly’ city
Thanks to the work of our Bird Friendly Ottawa group, Nature Canada has certified Ottawa as a “bird friendly city” one of now 41 bird-friendly municipalities across Canada. This endeavour raises awareness of the importance of birds in our community and the need to protect and nurture them and educate the public about their importance. Many people were involved in this project including such partner orgainizations as Ottawa Field Naturalist’s Club, Ecology Ottawa, Fletcher Wildlife Garden, Safe Wings Ottawa, Ottawa Valley Wild Bird Centre, Bird-Safe Campus at uOttawa, and Wild Birds Unlimited.
