The OFNC provides many opportunities to give practical support to nature and natural history.
We have active birding programs, a youth club, a naturalized garden, a peer-reviewed scientific journal, educational materials, a club news bulletin, field trips, and a public lecture program. They can all use your help.
OFNC activities are carried out by committees of volunteers. Join a committee and help run the club. Some committees are responsible for program areas, such as Birds, Conservation, Fletcher Wildlife Garden, Macoun Field Club and Publications. Other committees deal with organizational and administrative matters – Awards, Education & Publicity, Events, Finance, and Membership.
In particular…
- Birds Committee is looking for some new members. Enthusiasm and energy are more important than expertise in bird ID. For more information or to attend a meeting (via zoom) email birds@ofnc.ca.
- Awards Committee is looking for someone to participate in the OFNC awards process (help evaluate nominations, write an award citation) and other work of the committee. More information about our awards
- Safe Wings Ottawa needs volunteers to monitor buildings during spring and fall migration, to transport injured birds, and to help with other tasks. For more information, see safewings.ca/volunteer.
