The Canadian Field-Naturalist (CFN) is the official journal and publication of record for the Ottawa Field Naturalists’ Club (OFNC). Issue 2 of volume 139 is posted online at https://www.canadianfieldnaturalist.ca/index.php/cfn/issue/archive. Those with print copy subscriptions should soon be seeing their printed copy in their mail boxes.

As has occurred for the last few issues, the second issue of volume 139 is also thin as we strive to return to a more regular publication schedule. Three of the six manuscripts in this issue deal with invertebrates: mussels in the Mississagi River (flows into Lake Huron), a first sighting in Canada of a jellyfish off British Columbia’s coast, and the second record of an introduced terrestrial flatworm in New Brunswick (with a suggestion of a new potential pathway for the introduction of this exotic). Rounding out the issue is an examination of camera-trap evidence for flying squirrels pilfering middens of red squirrels in BC, mycorrhizal fungi in cordgrasses in the Bay of Fundy, and a three-pronged approach to detecting frogs in boreal lakes in the Experimental Lakes Area. The latter paper, “A field survey of anuran species in two boreal lakes at the Experimental Lakes Area, Ontario, Canada”, provided this issue’s cover photograph and is the Feature Article for issue 2 of volume 139.

Four book reviews, again fewer than typical, New Titles, and News and Comment are included, with the announcement of the Fletcher Award for the “best” paper in volume 138 along with four honourable mentions. Items from the 2026 OFNC Annual Business meeting, the draft minutes, Committee Reports, and Awards notices conclude the issue.
