HTML special symbols and commands

When using a symbol that begins with ampersand (&) include a semicolon (;) at the end.
These special commands need to be added when using the “Text” tab instead of the usual “Visual” tab (top right of text entry screen.

en-dash = &ndash –
em-dash = &mdash —
copyright = &copy ©
dagger = &dagger †
nonbreak space = &nbsp e.g., 45 kg

thin space = &thinsp  e.g., 1 000 000

To put a horizontal rule in the text put hr between < and >. See below


To create a superscripted number put “sup” between < and > before the number and “/sub” after between < and > the number. E.g., metres squared = m2
To create a subscripted number put “sub” between < and > before the number and “/sub” after between < and > the number. E.g., carbon monoxide = CO2
To create an anchor point in a long text use Fusion Builder and select Menu anchor. Then enter the name of the anchor beside “Name”. The following symbol will appear in the file.

To jump to this anchor from any place in  the text file. Use the Button item in Fusion builder then enter the name of the anchor preceded by #. Then enter the text that will appear in the button in the Button Text box, e.g., Go to top. You can also select where you want the button to appear, e.g., center (sic).
