The FWG is only a few miles from the centre of Ottawa. It’s open to the public and there is no admission charge.
By public transportation
The number 85 bus stops at Carling and Preston, near Dow’s Lake. From there, it’s a 20-minute walk to FWG. From the south, buses 88 and 111 stop at Baseline and Prince of Wales Drive; walk north along Prince of Wales to get to the garden. OCTranspo map
The closest O-Train stop is at Carleton University. From there, walk toward the Rideau Canal, cross the canal at Hartwell’s Locks and veer right up the hill to enter the FWG at its southeast corner. Buses 7 and 10 also go into Carleton University.
From downtown, take the Queen Elizabeth Driveway on the west side of the Rideau Canal. After skirting Dow’s Lake, the road becomes Prince of Wales Drive. Continue on this road around the traffic circle in the Central Experimental Farm. As you head south, watch for the billboard-style sign with our heron logo. It will be on your left. See street view below.

Coming from the west end of the city, head east on Baseline Road. Turn left on Prince of Wales and watch for the sign with the heron on your right. See street view above.
Visitor parking is available at the lot just past the baseball diamond (large red square on map below); additional limited parking is available at our Resource Centre at the end of the entrance road (smaller red square).
