/Winter Birding at Mer Bleue and the Ridge Road area

Starts in 1 Month, 25 Days

March 15, 2020 8:30 am - 12:30 pm

Leaders: Richard Knapton and Christian Artuso

Location: Meet at NCC parking lot 23 (Dewberry Trail) on Dolman Ridge Rd.. Take Highway 417 to exit 104 and proceed northwest on Anderson Rd. until you reach Dolman Ridge Rd. and turn right.

Description: We will visit the Mer Bleue bog and other sites of interest in the area. Winter birding can produce resident and wintering species such as various finches, woodpeckers including Black-back, Northern Shrike, hawks and possibly owls.  Be prepared for trail walking and some driving. Check the weather forecast and be prepared. Read up on how to stay warm outdoors in winter. Warm, waterproof footwear is advisable. While we should find trails that are packed enough for walking, you might consider bringing snowshoes if there has been a recent, heavy snowfall. Bring water and a snack. You may send an email by March 13th to bm.ofnevents[at]gmail.com if you would like to be notified of cancellation due to weather. You may also contact that email address if you are unable to get to the meeting point on your own.
