Presenter: Jonathan Mack
Fungi are a very diverse group of organisms which include mushrooms and molds. While most people are at least somewhat familiar with mushrooms, molds are very rarely studied. Indeed, there are even relatively few expert mycologists who focus on this very diverse group of fungi! While it is true that many molds are microscopic, and that most species require the aid of a microscope to enjoy, some can be seen with a hand lens or even with the naked eye. This presentation, filled with numerous pictures and microphotographs (pictures taken with the microscope), is a very brief introduction to the fascinating miniature world of molds, their ecology and how to identify them. Jonathan will also present some interesting and unusual species which can be found in the region.
