A salvage harvest in Larose Forest due to root rot diseases in 2019-2020.

Presenters: Steve Hunter and Manon Besner

Description: Foresters may use information on the presence of fungi in developing a forest operations prescription for a particular site. Many native fungi can kill trees, but most of them do not result in widespread mortality. Non-native fungi can have devastating impacts that are not fully understood. Salvage of larger areas (as in Larose Forest last year) is uncommon, and occurs only in the most drastic circumstances.

Steve Hunter (forester, UCPR) and Manon Besner (forest technician, Larose Forest) will share their experience with pathogenic fungi in local forests.

Registration: please register via the link below, by March 4th.  You will receive a zoom link and instructions before the day of the event.
