7:00 p.m. Social
7:30 p.m. Formal program
Speaker: Kari Gunson with Dr. Fred Schueler
Location: Salon B, K.W. Neatby Building, Central Experimental Farm, 960 Carling Avenue
Join us on June 11th, 2019 to hear Kari Gunson and Dr. Fred Schueler present an overview of their new handbook, Wildlife on Roads. Fred will first describe how Ontario’s amphibians, turtles, snakes, mammals and birds relate to roads, and how different species come to be road-killed. Kari will then provide examples of the importance and use of citizen science data for providing mitigation solutions, especially for small animals. Kari will then conclude with examples of road-mitigation solutions for Ontario’s vertebrates with an emphasis with what works and where we need to improve.
The Wildlife on Roads handbook can be purchased online here, and autographed copies will also be available for sale at the meeting.
