Leaders: Vincent Fyson & Alice Tremblay

Meet: 6:45 a.m. at Lincoln Fields Shopping Centre (northeast corner of parking lot, Richmond Road at Assaly Road, near Pizza Pizza) OR at 7:30 a.m. on Golden Line Road (just south of March Road, east of Almonte)

On May 5th, join Alice and Vincent for a walk through the Burnt Lands Provincial Park alvar. The primary focus of this event is bird watching, however, this ecosystem has something to offer for all including an abundance of uncommon plants, butterflies, and amphibians. With any luck we may encounter some early Grasshopper or Clay-coloured sparrow migrants along with many other species. Trails are not maintained and may be wet at this time of year so we recommend wearing sturdy hiking or rain boots. After exploring the alvar we will stop at the Almonte Lagoons, an excellent location to find all sorts of waterfowl and shorebirds. Spotting scopes, binoculars, and cameras will be an asset on this trip.
